CERRO SANTA LUCIA
Public Competition. Santiago, 2015
Public Competition. Santiago, 2015
This project explores ways in which the hill can regain its condition of geographic, urban, social and cultural icon, taking on its central position as a democratic place of encounter, recreation and culture... transmitting different moments of its history to the people who visit it... recovering its architectural and artistic heritage... for it to be accessible and inclusive to all inhabitants... connecting its borders with its urban surroundings, on a neighborhood, borough and city scale... blurring its physical, social and cultural limits... respecting the natural environment, minimizing intervention on its green areas and proposing new plantations... permitting a new contemporary lecture of the hill, respecting those that precede it... in conclusion, the project explores the ways in which Santa Lucia can overcome its island condition.
